THE AUSTIN CITY LIMITS MUSIC FESTIVAL attracts about 65,000 people per day for three days. The next music festival will take place Sept. 14-16 in Austin, Texas.

Three days, eight stages, 130 bands. The musical pandemonium known as Austin City Limits Music Festival will take place in a few weeks, Sept. 14-16, in Austin, on the Zilker Park grounds. Although three-day passes are sold out, you can still buy single-day tickets for about $80 each (aclfestival.com). I am sure if you tried hard enough (and had enough cash flow), a three-day pass could be procured from various auction Web sites: tickets are as low as $150 on ebay.com.

Austin will be swarming with people during ACL weekend, and hotels will fill up fast. There are some cheap places to stay along Interstate 35, like the Ramada Limited for about $65 a night and located about 10 minutes from downtown. If you are not on a budget, try staying at the Sheraton Hotel downtown-- rooms are only $359 per night. You could always opt to sleep on your friend's apartment floor. There will not be room service or freshly pressed sheets, but it is free, and we are in college. Or skip out on accommodations all together, and stay out all night on Sixth Street. Tip: take short power naps in your car.

When you are not listening to Amy Winehouse, Arcade Fire or Bob Dylan at Zilker Park grounds, you are going to need something to do in Austin, and it will be hot! Take a dip in Barton Springs Pool located in Zilker Park. This natural spring-fed pool, home of the endangered Barton Springs salamander, will be open daily from 5 a.m.-10 p.m. all weekend.

After your swim, swing by the Sno Beach snow cone stand on the corner of Barton Springs Road and South Lamar Boulevard. Be sure to try your snow cone with the famous cream on top - seriously, the BEST snow cone of your life! Senior communication major Susan Trawick said her life would not be complete without Sno Beach. "[It] makes my Austin experience worthwhile every time," she said. If you are not sure what flavor to get, try Ice Cream or the ever-popular Wedding Cake.

Not in the mood for a snow cone? Grab a famous Purple Margarita from Baby Acapulco's, also on Barton Springs Road. Not to worry guys: just because they are purple does not mean they are not still manly. These babies are so strong, servers are only allowed to serve two to a customer. I was once with a friend who convinced the server he could handle a third. Wow!
