Cycling
The cycling club has scheduled a "Midnight Moonlight Ramble" for Oct. 28.

The club is planning to participate in the MS 150 in April. Weekly group rides are open to anyone interested in cycling.

Fencing
UST's fencing team competed in the "Cougar Call to Arms" hosted by the University of Houston on Sept. 2.

Fencing club member Mike Leang, who is not a student at UST, ranked 14th out of 38 total competitors. Non-student club member Jacob Stern ranked 17th. Club member Lauren Anderson, who is not a UST student, ranked 25th. Team Captain Jorge Novo, a sophomore liberal arts major, ranked 29th. Senior business administration major Patrick Hildebrand ranked 31st. Freshman Laura Laidlaw ranked 36th.

Members of the club competed in a mixed foil against other Houston-area fencers. The competition was classified as a B2 event. UST's fencers competed against several national-level contenders.

Novo said that this competition was one of the most difficult this year.

The fencing team will compete in Fayetteville, Ark. on Sept. 22. It will fence against clubs and academies from Oklahoma, Arkansas and Alabama.

Novo said that the team members have high expectations for their performances at this event.

Men's Varsity Soccer
The men's soccer team won its game against Northwood University 1-0, in overtime, on Sept. 12. Freshman Daniel Rivera scored the only goal.

The team's next game is scheduled for Sept. 23. The Celts will play Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. TWU is currently tied for third place in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Region VI rankings.

Women's Soccer
The women's soccer team lost its first game 3-2 against North Harris College on Sept. 15.

Junior drama major Monica Seibert scored one goal for UST. The other goal was an error by a member of the opposing team.

The next women's soccer game is scheduled for Sept. 29 at noon. UST will play University of Houston Downtown at Bayland Park.

Team captain Linda Arredondo, a senior English and communication major, said that the team has performed well against UHD in the past and she expects the same in the upcoming game.

Women's Varsity Volleyball
The women's varsity volleyball team has won two of its six games this semester.

UST defeated St. Gregory University and Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Sept. 1, during the Coca-Cola Classic tournament in Lubbock, Texas. The team lost to Houston Baptist University on Aug. 29, to Lubbock Christian University on Aug. 31 and to Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Sept. 8.

UST is ranked ninth in Region VI of the NAIA as of Sept. 10.

The volleyball team will compete in an away game against Texas Southern University on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
