Fencing
Three UST fencing club members placed in the top 10 of their respective events in a tournament in Springdale, Ark. on Sept. 21.
The fencing team competed against clubs from surrounding states in this event.
Jorge Novo, junior liberal arts major and team captain, earned his first national ranking by finishing third in the mixed foil event.
Senior business major Patrick Hildebrand finished seventh in a mixed foil and an unrated foil.
Rugby
The club placed third in the collegiate division of the annual Cowtown Rugby Tournament, hosted by the Fort Worth Rugby Club on Oct. 6.
The club lost to Baylor, 8-5, in the first game, beat the University of Dallas 27-5 in the second game and advanced to the semi-finals when the Stephen F. Austin State University and University of Houston teams neglected to show up for game three. UST was defeated in the fourth game 27-12 by Texas Christian University.
The club defeated the Rice University B-side 74-5 on Sept. 29.
Nearly half of the Rice team members who the Celts faced were actually first- string players, including the Rice team captain.

The club lost to Katy 39-29 on Sept. 22.
Men's Soccer
The men's soccer team defeated the University of Texas - Brownsville 3-2 on Oct. 15.
Freshman Efrain Orozco scored the first goal of the game for the Celts in the fourteenth minute. His free kick to the far post tied the match at 1-1.
Sophomore marketing major Jad El-Masri scored UST's second goal connecting with senior Danny Rivera. Before the first half ended, Nick Boras ran the ball from mid-field to score, earning UST its third and final goal of the game.
UST lost to UT - Brownsville 0-1 on Oct. 7.
The men's soccer team's record is 6-6-1 for the season.
Women's Volleyball
UST women's varsity volleyball was defeated by UT - Brownsville on Oct.15 with scores of 30-15, 30-15 and 30-22.
The Lady Celts were defeated by Oklahoma City University 30-21, 30-23, 31-29 on Oct. 13.
The team lost to Texas Wesleyan University on Oct. 12, 30-28, 30-17, 30-28.
Lubbock Christian University defeated UST 30-17, 30-14, 30-13, on Oct. 12.
The team won 30-20, 30-27, 30-20 against Huston-Tillotson University on Oct. 11.
As of Oct. 15, the Lady Celts' record is 7-12.
The team will compete in Jerabeck against Southwestern Assemblies of God University at 7 p.m. on Nov. 2. Its last scheduled match will also be played at home against College of the Southwest at 2 p.m. on Nov. 3.
