Oct 30: The senators discussed ways that SGA could help the University increase the recruitment and retention rates. Some ideas mentioned included: having an on-campus pub, having class crests and selling UST paraphernalia in gas stations. Then, using the ideas they came up with in the previous meeting, the senators voted for their five favorite ideas for recruitment and retention.

Nov. 6: Vice-President Thomas Mendez presented Senate Resolution 2, which listed the recruitment and retention ideas that were chosen in the previous meeting. Some senators said they felt that a separate item needed to be added to the resolution about putting a pub on campus. After much debate, a resolution was proposed to add the pub as a separate item. The amendment was approved by a vote of 10-9, and then the resolution was passed, with amendments, by a vote of 17-2.

Nov. 20: Senator Cameron Waldner presented Senate Bill 7, which proposed a $13 increase to the student activity fee. Based on the current enrollment figures, the increase would provide SGA with approximately $37,661. The money would pay for three big-screen TVs, which, in addition to the one that the University is paying for, would be used to display campus announcements and inform students in the case of campus emergencies.

Waldner also presented Senate Bill 8, which proposed the creation of a day of observance to show respect to the UST crest. The bill also requested a small allocation of funds to clean the coat of arms of any gum or dirt.

Finally, Senators Di Vece, Ozburn, Patrick, and Waldner presented Senate Bill 9, which requested $9,000 to fund the creation and purchase of a student mascot costume.

Nov. 27: Senate Bill 7 was tabled until sometime next year because trying to raise the student activity fee in the middle of the year would cause "headaches" for the administration.

Senate Bill 8 was amended to specify the day of observation for the UST coat of arms as a week of observation, Jan. 21-25. The allocation of funds to be used for the cleaning the crest was specified as $200. The bill was passed by a vote of 15-0-1.

Senate Bill 9 was amended to request $2,000 instead of $9,000, which would be used to pay for the initial design costs of the mascot costume, as well as the initial licensing fee. The changes were made once it became clear that the school would be willing to pay for most of the cost. The bill was passed by a vote of 15-1.
